Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide students, teaching staff, scientists and library visitors with up-to-date scientific online information for Austria as a center of science and education.
We network through the collaboration of libraries and the exchange with international partners like GASCO  or ICOLC.
We accompany and actively support recent developments in the publication market and in academic publishing – e.g. Open-Access.
We pool our knowledge at the head office  of the Austrian Academic Library Consortium (Kooperation E-Medien Österreich) as a part of OBVSG and provide expertise to our members and partners.

Responsibilities

• Coordinated conduct of negotiations of contracts between cooporation members and publishers within consortia
• Price negotiations in compliance with bugets and based upon strategic policies of cooperation partners
• Joint tender procedures accroding to Austrian Federal Procurement Law 2018 (Bundesvergaberecht 2018) - in German
• Consortia Administration including settlement of payments
• Preperation of Expert's reports though Task forces
• Documentation of Activities of the Austrian Academic Library Consortium and its organisational bodies and committees
• Presentation and representation of the consortium at conferences, meetings, publications and media

Organisational Structure

• The coorporation agreement defines the purpose of the cooporation. It specifies the corresponding tasks, the excutive bodies and the ways of collaboration
• The Austrian Academic Library Consortium (Kooperation E-Medien Österreich) is set up by the contractually bound members
• Cooporation partners / members are Austrian public and private universities with associated university hospitals, universities of applied sciences, state libraries, the Austrian National Library (Österreichische Nationalbibliothek) and other non-commercial scientific information and research facilities, as-well as research funding institutions and other educational facilities based in Austria and the OBVSG
• The cooperation committee (Kooperationsausschuss) is being elected by the general assembly. It coordinates the activities of the cooporation amonst it members and the OBVSG and supervises the fulfillment of tasks
• The Head Office of theAustrian Academic Library Consortium is a department of OBVSG. It executes the assigned tasks.
• The costs - especially staff costs and operating expenses of the Head Office -  are being  jointly bourne by the cooporation partners

Directons

By car:

Drive on Obere Donaustraße and turn right at Schiffamtsstraße. Turn left at the third street into Raimundgasse.

Please note that the area around our office is a  paid short-stay parking zone on working days from Mon-Fri 9am-10 pm (maximum parking duration 2 hours).
The closest public car park (400m) is located at "Garage Karmelitermarkt" (Leopoldsgasse 39, 1020 Vienna).

By public transport:

Underground station Schottenring (underground lines U2/U4), Exit Herminengasse (platform underground line U2/lift)

Continue on Herminengasse, turn left at Franz-Hochedlingerstraße and then right to Schiffamtsstraße, take the second street on the left and you reach Raimundgasse
